Solar
Energy Panels
The use of
solar energy panels is gaining in popularity and
acceptance in many countries for a number of
reasons.

Most of our continent is still in the hands of rural
people. Within the big cities, the demand for electricity
is the highest. The governments of our country are
investing heavily in the development of environmentally
viable alternative energy sources.
The mega projects; acres and acres of giant wind
turbines and sun tracking solar arrays are what will feed
the hunger of these cities. In the rural areas however,
the population density is not sufficient to justify the
expense of building these mega projects or the
transmission equipment to send the electricity to remote
areas.
For the rural part of our country the obvious
alternative is going to be smaller scale solar and/or
wind generated electricity. The development of the mega
projects has allowed the rapidly advancing technology to
trickle down to the independent, inventive and creative
rural population and triggered a vital new interest in
the creation and utilization of solar energy
panels.

The average farmstead, whether large or small, is
dependent on electricity not only for the needs of the
family but also for the health and well being of
livestock.
A power outage on a livestock farm could have
devastating consequences. All responsible farmers have
taken the necessary steps to insure that an alternative
energy source is available.
In most instances this is a gasoline or diesel
powered generator set up to kick in immediately upon the
loss of ‘grid’ power. Farmers are more aware than most
people of the consequences of the continued use of fossil
fuels and are determined to find a renewable energy
resource that doesn’t cause environmental degradation.
The implementation of biodiesel is one innovation
that is spreading across the rural landscape; wind power
generators are another. The most recent addition to the
arsenal is the increase in availability of solar energy
panels.
The technical abilities and pioneering attitude that
make farmers so successful, is easily put to use in the
area of diy solar power. The plans to build a solar
energy panel are the first thing required, followed by
the acquisition of the necessary components.
The building part is the easiest for the mechanical
farmer. Directing the generated electricity into banks of
special batteries allow the storage of this energy for
when it will be needed.
Once the solar panel installation is complete the
next step is to ‘wire’ it into the existing electrical
system. Solar panels produce electricity in a constant
one way motion.
Most homes run on what is referred to as AC or
alternating current. In order to produce this, an
apparatus is required to reverse the direct electrical
current (DC) at a specific speed a certain number of
times each second. This rapid reversal is what produces
the AC.
Once the transformation is complete the electricity
is available to water stock, keep the lights on, provide
heat and supply the electronic controls for automated
systems.
The end result is a renewable energy resource through
solar energy panels that is free and constant without the
potential for environmental damage, and a few more happy
farmers.
