Alternative Energy Resources

Governments of many nations have implemented
programs to develop and expand the large-scale use
of alternative energy
resources.
On a large industrial scale, solar power
installations are working toward generating clean energy. Large
groups of wind power generators are becoming a common sight in
our rural landscape. It would appear that we are well on our
way to returning the Earth to its pristine
glory.
A problem remains. The amount of energy that the
average person uses in the developed nations is still way too
high to be accommodated by any means; clean or otherwise. The
developed nations and all their citizens must embrace the
understanding that energy doesn’t come without some
cost.

The primary obligation then, is to conserve by
utilizing the following steps as it applies to energy.
·
Reduce the amount of energy we use by using
energy efficient appliances, making sure to run full loads of
dishes and laundry, car-pooling when possible. We already know
this stuff, but we need to be more judicious in applying
it.
·
Hiding inside this little “R” is the opportunity
to reduce the demand for commercially produced electricity on a
personal level. Diy solar power is a good start. Build a solar
panel and install you own home solar power system. You will win
twofold. The environment will be better off by your clean
energy generation and your bank account will be better off
because your energy bill will be lower.
·
Residential solar power systems are the fastest
and easiest way to start making your home part of the solution.
With renewable energy resources, we can reduce the demand on
the fossil fuels that are destroying our air, and our quality
of life. Adding a solar hot water heater is an easy second
step. Put up a small wind turbine and you can have it
contribute with its wind power generator.
·
The next “R” is the re-use part and again we
already know this part. Buy reusable shopping bags and water
bottles, and use them instead of the disposable
kind.
·
The recycle part is where you might find some
pleasant surprises. Of course we know to recycle paper,
plastic, tin and glass, but what about energy and products that
generate it. Broken solar panels can be revitalized, and
re-used.
Most of us have already started to make these
simple steps part of our daily lives. Now by installing a home
solar power system and embracing the many alternative
energy resources available, you can take the next step by
adding your name to the list of people generating clean energy.
This new individual energy self-sufficiency can be taught to
leaders in the developing countries and they can slip right
into the carbon neutral era.
